5 Potent Natural Hair Growth Ingredients & Remedies

In this post, I’m excited to share 5 simple natural ingredients, such as henna, rosewater, and Moroccan clay, that can transform your hair, promote healthy hair growth and give it shine.

Growing up in Morocco, my grandma always used to keep a spray of rosewater in her kitchen. My mother did the same, and I later learned the amazing uses of rosewater.

In this post, I’d like to share natural ingredients that promote hair growth, starting with rosewater, a Moroccan beauty secret…

Natural Hair Growth Remedies

Below are my top 5 hair growth remedies inspired by Moroccan traditions that’s proven to help with hair loss, damaged hair and other hair-related issues.

Rosewater For Hair Care

Rosewater is distilled from rose petals.

Use it to rinse your hair after shampooing and conditioning it. I recommend putting your rosewater in a spray bottle and spritzing it into your hair.

Focus on your scalp and massage to nourish and hydrate your hair follicles.

Rosewater will also help detangle your hair if you tend to have knots after taking showers.

Another lovely use of rosewater is a hair and face mist.

I learned this from my mother. She’d always carry a small bottle of rosewater mist in her purse and use it throughout the day, especially on hot summer days. Every time I used it, it left my face and hair feeling hydrated.

Moroccan Clay For Hair Care

We call Moroccan clay ‘Ghassoul’. It’s a mineral-rich clay found in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco that’s been used for centuries in Moroccan beauty rituals.

I personally use it as a cleansing hair mask when I’m taking a bath or at the Hamam.

I leave it in to absorb any excess oil and impurities. You can also use it as a deep conditioner because it nourishes and hydrates your hair.

Because it removes impurities, you can use it as a detox scalp mask as well. Massage it in, leave it on for a few minutes and rinse.

Henna For Hair Growth

Henna can be used as a natural hair dye, but it is also used to keep your hair healthy and to promote growth.

Henna has cooling and antimicrobial properties, which soothe and cleanse the scalp. A healthy scalp supports the health of the hair follicles and encourages new hair growth.

It can be used as a deep conditioner and leave your hair so soft. The key is just to rinse it quickly. Henna will gently add a reddish tint and I find that you have to leave it in for a while to see any difference.

So, if you’d like just to get its benefits without any color tint, just rinse it off quickly.

Orange Blossom Water For Growth and Shine

Like rosewater, orange blossom water is distilled from orange blossoms and is usually used to rinse your hair.

Orange blossom can be used as a remedy to reduce scalp inflammation. If your hair looks dull or lacks shine, it can help you add shine and a fresh hair smell.

Prickly Pear Seed Oil for Hair Growth

Prickly pears are my favorite fruits! I discovered that prickly pear seed oil, extracted from the seeds of the prickly pear cactus fruit, can be powerful for hair growth and skin regeneration. I found this oil to moisturize and be absorbed well.

This oil promotes elasticity and is high in antioxidants, so you can use it if you’re experiencing hair loss.
